George, born in 1954, hails from a lineage of humble Sri Lankan parents. His family’s tradition of resourcefulness and creativity influenced him significantly, inspiring George to embark on an engineering career as a tribute to his heritage and personal aspirations.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to make his mark, George earned the prestigious title of chartered engineer in Sri Lanka. With twelve years of invaluable experience under his belt, George sought new horizons, eventually finding himself in Australia.

Upon his arrival, George seized an opportunity at Airport Doors, quickly ascending to the helm of the engineering departments. His adeptness and keen insights into product lines made him an invaluable asset, propelling him to introduce innovative concepts such as overhead doors to the market.

George’s contributions extended beyond mere product innovation; his dedication to training staff and refining industry practices garnered widespread recognition. His pioneering designs, including the first flush mount panel-lift door in Australia and the record-breaking 1.2-tonne panel door, underscored his commitment to pushing boundaries.

Continuing to push the envelope, George ventured into researching and developing specialty doors like Pit-shutters and Rapid-Doors, cementing his reputation as a trailblazer in the industry. Collaborating with major brands, George’s technical prowess and attention to detail elevated Airport Doors to industry pinnacles.

Despite his achievements, George’s true passion lay in nurturing industry talent and innovation. Thus, he founded DOOR Image, a consultancy aimed at revolutionizing access entry products. George’s ethos of limitless innovation and customer-centric solutions propelled DOOR Image’s expansion into new territories, fostering a culture of excellence within the access engineering community.
